Design is my passion, but music is, and always be, just as influential in my life as design. Music is a powerful thing. It changes your mood, evoke memories, and make you feel like a completely different person. Think about a movie soundtrack. The most mundane set can feel romantic, as the most glamorous location can feel gritty, all depending on the track.
You can tell a lot about a person from the music they listen to. When beginning to work with a new client, I ask them what artists they like to listen to (in addition to many other personal questions), then create a station for them on my Pandora and listen to it when I begin designing and sourcing for them. It makes me feel more connected to their personalities.
Personally, I liken to a wiiiiiiiide range of musical artists. Probably reflective of my many personalities. Kidding! (Kinda…..) It is no secret that I have a deep affection for Beyonce and Jay Z. Have always loved them separately, love them together, and really love that they are on tour together. I’ve been lucky enough to see Jay Z live in concert, and was thisclose to seeing Beyonce. Like, I was literally walking in to the show only to find out that I had bought a fraudulent ticket. I was standing in the venue when she walked on stage. I could hear her, I could feel her, I just couldn’t see her. Ugh, I’m getting anxious thinking about it…
Moving on!
Beyonce and Jay Z are currently on tour together for the first time ever for the On the Run Tour. Good lord I would do nasty things to go to one of those shows. In the meantime I’ve been keeping up with the tour on Life and Times and Bey’s Tumbler. It’s interesting to look at pictures of them performing in still, with no audio. The images are beautiful. I love how powerful they are on their own, and even more so together. A mutual understanding and support I can only dream of having with someone.
I would have any one of this images framed and on display in my home. Super love.
I probably won’t get to see this show in person (Boo hoo!) but lucky for all of us HBO will be documenting the Paris show in September. Over 40 songs will be performed between the two of them. Should be epic.
